Days of Palestine – Hebron
The Israeli occupation forces on Friday confiscated a heavy-duty truck and an excavator in Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron province.
Local official Fuaad al-Amour said that the vehicles were being used to reclaim privately owned lands on the eastern side of Masafer Yatta when the Israeli occupation forces stormed the area and seized them, adding that they belonged to Ismail Bahees and Ibrahim al-Adra.
This arbitrary measure is part of systematic aggressive Israeli practices aimed at making it hard for the Palestinians to live a normal life on their own lands and forcing them to leave their homes.
In a separate incident, the Israeli occupation forces confiscated on the same day construction equipment and material in Khilat Hassan area in western Salfit and delivered a notice informing the local authority of its intent to appropriate a swath of land.
Local official Yousef Abu Safiya said that the Israeli occupation forces stormed the construction site where a mosque was supposed to be built and seized all building equipment and material.
He added that the Israeli occupation forces would also seize 300 square meters of land that was earmarked for the construction of the mosque.
The Israeli occupation forces justified the measure by claiming that the site is located in an area classified as Area C.
Under the Oslo accords, control of this area was supposed to be gradually handed over to the Palestinian Authority, but Israel persists in retaining total control over this territory.
