Bethlehem governor Kamel Hmeid announced late last night a total two-day lockdown on the city and area towns and villages starting Monday in an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease.
He said in a statement that the lockdown, which will affect all activities and movement in the governorate, will start at 6:00 am local time Monday morning and will continue for 48 hours.
The lockdown will affect all official and private institutions, except health-related ones, all shops except bakeries and pharmacies, and movement of people in and out of the governorate as well as movement of people inside the city, towns and villages except for humanitarian cases.
Hmeid said the lockdown is intended to allow the anti-corona teams to do their job in containing the disease that has recently returned to the governorate.
