Palestine on Friday, June 26, declared 207 new coronavirus infections, carrying the count of COVID-19 cases to 1,795.
This is the highest number of cases in one day since the outburst of the COVID-19 in Palestine on March 5, adding that most of the new infections were registered in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, said Palestinian Health Minister Mai al-Kaila in a press report.
The new wave of cases hit the West Bank in mid-June. Hebron, the largest district in the West Bank, is becoming the new epicenter of coronavirus in Palestine, with a majority of the infections registered there. It was followed by Nablus in the northern West Bank.
According to Palestinian medical experts, the COVID-19 was growing as a result of contacts mostly with Palestinians from Israel or workers in Israel.
But al-Kaila said that some of the registered infections belong to West Bank residents who lately returned from Egypt through Jordan.
