Israeli forces today detained at least 11 Palestinians in multiple overnight raids across the occupied West Bank, said local and security sources.

Israeli police rounded up five Palestinians from the vicinity of Damascus Gate (Bab al-Amoud) in Jerusalem.

Police rounded up another, identified as a Waqf-appointed guard, from Bab al-Rahma prayer area inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers manning Qalandia, north of Jerusalem, stopped and detained a Palestinian who attempted to cross the military checkpoint.

In Hebron district, Israeli military vehicles raided Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron city, where soldiers detained three Palestinians, including an injured teen.

A similar predawn military raid was carried out in Dura town, south of Hebron, resulting in the detention of another.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

According to Palestinian figures, roughly 5,700 Palestinians — including numerous women and children — are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities.
