A delegation led by head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Thursday met with former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in Doha and discussed with him different issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Haneyya offered his congratulations to Sheikh Hamad on Qatar’s national day and hailed the bilateral relations between the peoples of Qatar and Palestine.
The Hamas official also applauded Qatar’s ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip.
He briefed the Qatari leader of the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, including the inter-Palestinian efforts to hold elections in the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza.
He also highlighted the dangers threatening the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the attempts to liquidate them, stressing the need for Arab and Islamic action to confront them.
