Days Of Palestine – West Bank

Israeli occupation forces on Thursday overnight detained at least 10 Palestinians from various parts of the occupied West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoners’ Society (PPS).

PPS confirmed that an Israeli military force detained four Palestinians, including two brothers, after ransacking their families’ houses in Jenin refugee camp.

The raid triggered confrontations during which soldiers opened fire on local youngsters. No injuries were reported though.

In Ramallah district, PPS confirmed an Israeli military raid in the West Bank city of al-Bireh, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.

Three others were rounded up in a similar raid in Kafr Malek town, northeast of Ramallah city.

In Hebron district, Israeli military vehicles stormed al-Arroub refugee camp, north of the city, where soldiers thoroughly searched several houses and rounded up a Palestinian.

In Nablus district, a Palestinian was detained as he attempted to cross Zaatara military checkpoint, south of Nablus city.

The detainee was identified as a resident of Balata refugee camp.

Separately, Israeli police scuffled with and detained three young Palestinian men at al-Wad Street in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
