Two Palestinian young men were injured on Monday evening when the Israeli occupation police stormed Issawiya district in east Jerusalem and assaulted local residents.

According to local sources, police forces severely beat a young man called Ahmed Abu Rumi and injured him during his presence near a makeshift checkpoint that was suddenly set up on the Attour road in Issawiya.

Another young man was reported injured when police forces fired a stun grenades towards his car during clashes with youths near al-Arba’ein Mosque in Issawiya.

For long months, Issawiya has been the target of a violent and disruptive Israeli campaign, which local officials believe to be part of Israel’s efforts to gradually force the Jerusalemites to leave the holy city.
