On the Israeli decision to block Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from entering the country, Hamas official Dr. Basem Naim stated the following:
The Israeli occupation’s decision to bar two members of the United States Congress Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from entering the country exposes, rather than builds up, the true mentality of the Israeli occupation. We have tried to expose and struggled against the Israeli oppressive mentality for years.
The Israeli occupation is a racist entity that masters terror and violates international laws. As Palestinians, we are the most to realise the real, cruel image of the Israelis occupation, which has tried to hide it for years supported by the U.S.
Indeed, this decision reveals the fragility of the Israeli occupation and its existential fears about its ability to exist amid fake claims about civilization, democracy, and honoring human rights.
We call upon all representatives in the US congress to visit Palestine to see themselves the oppression, humiliation, racism, and deprivation of basic rights exercised by the Israeli occupation towards the Palestinian people all the time and across Palestine.
We stress that the Palestinian people welcome the two representatives in Palestine. We condemn the humiliating Israeli decision and confirm that the day when the congress members will visit free and independent Palestine is near. The history of South Africa has lessons for those oppressors, in case they want to get the lessons.
Moreover, we call upon the US representatives to reconsider their position towards the Israeli occupation, especially the US’ absolutes and unconditional support for the Israeli occupation. They should particularly reconsider political and military support for the Israeli occupation.
We, as Palestinians, are looking forward to the day when we live freely in our independent state, like the other peoples of the world. Then we will contribute to building up human civilisation and advocate for human rights.
