Days Of Palestine – Occupied Jerusalem
The Israel prison guards in Ashkelon jail at dawn Saturday stormed the Palestinian prisoners' cells and wreaked havoc on them.
According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society, this measure came a day before the launch of a mass hunger strike in Asheklon jail in protest at the prison administration's repressive policies against Palestinian detainees.
Since last April, the prisoners in Ashkelon jail have been facing repeated overnight raids on their cells, punitive fines and arbitrary transfers. They are also not allowed to see their relatives and buy their needs.
About 46 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in Israel's Ashkelon jail. At least four of them need urgent surgeries yet they are denied proper treatment by the Israeli Prison Service.
