Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said its Shadow Unit — responsible for Israeli prisoners — was given orders to exert pressure on captive soldiers in a way similar to the treatment Palestinian prisoners receive in Israeli jails.
Al-Qassam Brigades’ Shadow Unit is an elite group responsible for guarding enemy captives, hiding them and foiling any attempt to find them. Its members “stay in the shadows, away from the light, and operate in complete secrecy.”
“We solute our prisoners in their battle, al-Karama 2, and we say to them that we back you in both word and deed and place your issue above other considerations,” spokesman for the Brigades Abu Obeida said in Telegram remarks.
“The treatment that had been received previously by Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit from the resistance, which the enemy knows well, will not reoccur with its prisoners being held by us in light of its persistence in maltreating our prisoners and their families,” Abu Obeida underlined.
Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners entered the third day of their mass hunger strike on Wednesday to pressure Israeli jailers to respond their just demands and end its aggressive practices against them.
