The Israeli prison service (IPS) on Tuesday decided to take punitive measures against dozens of Palestinian prisoners in response to the stabbing of two jailers a few days ago in the Negev jail.
The measures have targeted 74 Hamas-affiliated prisoners in Ramon jail to punish them for causing riots and setting fire in cells, and 96 others in the Negev jail for their participation in recent skirmishes with jailers that happened following the stabbing incident.
Accordingly, those prisoners will be forced to pay financial penalties and deprived of receiving visits and take their daily walks in the prison courtyards.
Meanwhile, a state of tension has been prevailing in Eshel jail after several cancer-causing cellphone jammers were installed in some sections of the facility.
