British surgical team has launched medical training programme for Palestinian doctors in hospitals of the Gaza Strip.
The team, from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (RCSEd), arrived in Gaza on Friday to implement the training of programme at Al-Shifa Hospital, the main and largest hospital in Gaza.
It is worth mentioning that the Palestinian ministry of health has signed a memorandum of understanding to train its staff with its British partner Medical Aid for Palestine (MAP-UK) at the beginning of this year.
Director General of Human Resources in the ministry Dr Rami Abdullah said that the Palestinian medical staff is to have training on general basic skills of surgeries and specifically on laparoscopic surgeries.
He added: “The ministry has saved no efforts to bring this programme to light which would not be possible without the steadfast support from the RCSEd.
Trainees will be exposed to new devices and medical equipment and learn how to cope with the new medical technology in addition to receiving advanced curriculum.
