Days of Palestine, Jerusalem -Israeli Magistrate Court in Jerusalem ruled on Tuesday to keep world’s youngest prisoner in custody despite being below age of legal responsibility.

The Israeli court decided that the little Palestinian boy Ali Alqam, 11 years old, is a “terrorist;” therefore, he must stay locked up.

So that, the court decided he would be sent to a prison supervised by the Israeli welfare ministry for one year until he is 12; the legal responsibility age for the Palestinians under Israeli occupation.

Calling him a “terrorist,” the Israeli court ruled that the Israeli authorities cannot arrest or interrogate an 11-year-old “terrorist” under any condition. However, he had been already interrogated even when he was under treatment in the Israeli Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Centre.

While he is in custody, his parent can visit him and he can take very short vacations, and in a year, the Magistrate Court is to hold another hearing for him, taking into account the evaluations of ministry of welfare officials.

Alqam was accused of planning to kill Israelis after the Israeli police found small scissors with while he was taking the Israeli light train with his cousin in November.

The Israeli security guard shot him in the stomach at a point blank range and he and his 14-year-old cousin were arrested.

His cousin was charged of planning to kill Israelis and was sent to prison.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli court decided to keep the little Palestinian boy in prison over false charges in the Palestinian Children’s Day.
