Days of Palestine, Gaza Strip –One Palestinian youth was killed on Saturday, another wounded as an Israeli leftover missile blew up in southern Gaza Strip.
Medical Palestinian sources said that Naji abu-Sableh, 20, was killed by an apparently Israeli leftover missile. His brother Akram, 18, was wounded in the same incident.
According to the sources, Naji arrived in the hospital dead, but Akram arrived suffering serious wounds as one of his hands was amputated and there were tens of shrapnel in his face.
Witnesses said that the brothers were working in their farm, which was a field of the Israeli operations during the latest Israeli offensive on Gaza last summer.
“After initial investigations into the incident, the brothers were moving an unidentified body of an explosive device in their farm, which was a field of Israeli operations during the war,” Palestinian security sources told Days of Palestine.
During the latest Israeli war, ten people, including a three journalists –one of them Italian– were killed in a similar incident. Similar incidents continued after the end of the war.
Hundreds of Israeli unexploded missiles have been found in different places along the Gaza Strip. A large number of people reported unexploded missiles in their partially damaged houses, as well as in their farms.
Palestinian civil defence services distributed fliers with pictures of potential suspicious objects that included emergency numbers to be phone in case of finding these objects.
