Days of Palestine, Gaza Strip –Israeli occupation opened on Saturday night dam’s gate near Gaza Strip causing flooding of tens of homes in the enclave.
Sources affirmed to Days of Palestine that the Israeli occupation army opened the floodgates of a canal leading to the central Gaza Strip, which led to the removal of sand hills along Green Line –1967 borders of Gaza.
Opening the gates caused the flooding of tens of Palestinian homes, and the Palestinian civil services evacuated more than 80 families.
The Israeli occupation usually opens the floodgates to their dams in the direction of the Gaza Strip, without prior notice, in order to discharge water that accumulates due to heavy rains in the region.
Along several days, the war-battered Gaza Strip has been struggling to deal with a severe rain wave that has been sweeping the region.
The Israeli blockade of Gaza, in place since 2006, has led to shortages in fuel and rainwater drainage equipment, which further exacerbated the situation of the 1.9 million Palestinians in the strip.
Back in January, hundreds of Palestinians left their homes, which were heavily flooded as a result of the storm ‘Huda.’
