Days of Palestine, West Bank –Palestinian 14-year old girl Malak al-Khatib was released on Friday afternoon after spending six weeks in Israeli prisons.
Al-Khatib, the youngest Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, was taken by Israeli occupation troops to the Jabara Israeli Checkpoint, south of the West Bank city of Tulkarm.
The mother, father, brothers, sisters, relatives and many other Palestinians, who liked her and condemned her imprisonment, were waiting for her on the checkpoint.
Malak was arrested on December 31, 2014 over claims by Israeli troops she threw stones at them while they were inside their military jeep.
She was held in the Israeli prison of Hasharon, which is designed for women. She faced very difficult conditions during her imprisonment, in addition to being interrogated without a lawyer or the presence of any family member.
Last month, the ‘Ofer Israeli military court sentenced Al-Khatib to two-month imprisonment, and NIS6,000 fine. She was sent to court four times facing the charges of “throwing stones at the soldiers.”
Her family was never allowed to see her, and were prevented from talking to her during the court hearings.
It is worth mentioning that there are 213 Palestinian children in inside the Israeli jails. They are distributed among three prisons: Majeddo, Hasharon and ‘Ofer prisons.
