Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Israeli Knesset (parliament) decided on Wednesday to absolutely ban Arab MK from attending debate sessions for six months.
On July 29, the Knesset Ethics Committee suspended Balad MK Hanin Zoabi from participating in debates on the Knesset floor for six months.
Israeli Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein instructed the Israeli police to launch a criminal investigation into Zoabi’s actions, on suspicion of inciting others to violence and insulting two police officers.
The real cause for the investigation was that Zoabi refused to describe killers of the three Israeli Jewish settlers, who went missing on July 12 and then found dead in the occupied West Bank, as terrorists.
Zoabi decided then to appeal against the Knesset decision, but today 68 MKs voted against the appeal, 16 supported it and one abstained.
In response to the vote, Zoabi said: “I have good news for the Israeli right wingers and the centrists. I am not a Jewish or a Zionist like you, but I am a Palestinians from this land and born in this land. I have the right to be different from you.”
