Days of Palestine, West Bank –Israeli forces arrested 597 Palestinians from occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem in August, raising number of Palestinians in Israeli prisons to more than 7,000.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners Society, the majority of the arrests took place in East Jerusalem and Al-Khalil (Hebron), which is lies in the south of the West Bank.
The organisation, which is based in Ramallah, said that many were arrested during demonstrations in support for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli occupation waged a 51-day savage war on the Gaza Strip started in July 8. It killed 2,148 Palestinians and wounded more than 11,000 others.
Israeli forces have arrested hundreds of West Bank Palestinians since the disappearance and subsequent killing of three Jewish settlers in mid-June.
Since then, the Israeli authorities have been launching a restless campaign of detention in the occupied territory.
Several Hamas lawmakers as well as dozens of ex-detainees who had been released as part of a 2011 prisoner swap between Hamas and Israel were detained as part of the campaign.
