Days of Palestine, Lebanon –Senior Hamas Leader Usamah Hamdan has just said that diplomatic efforts on ceasefire between the Palestinian fighters and the Israeli occupation “stepped up.”
Speaking to Days of Palestine, Hamdan said: “After days of discussions, diplomatic initiatives to reach a ceasefire stepped up.”
The official, who is based in Lebanon, welcomed any efforts of any country, but insisted on the Palestinian demands, including halt of Israeli aggressions, ending eight-year-old Israeli siege on Gaza, opening all crossings and establishing a seaport and airport.
Hamdan did not give information about who is involved in the efforts, but earlier today, Turkish news agency Anadolu said that Egypt had intensified efforts aiming at reaching a truce in the Gaza Strip in the coming hours.
Other media sources expected that Egypt is to announce an open-ended ceasefire tonight.
