Up to the minute, five Palestinians were killed, three of them were performing the dawn prayer (first daily prayer) in a mosque in the middle area of the Gaza Strip. More than 35 have been wounded do far.
Palestinian factions, without Hamas, started firing rockets at the Israeli settlements around the Gaza Strip. It is not known why exactly Hamas did not take part in the shelling and why the other fighters did not target cities deep in the heart of the Israeli occupation entity.
Top Palestinian fighting group Hamas blamed the Israeli occupation for the ceasefire in Gaza not being extended, saying the occupation did not provide a clear response to the Palestinian demands.

Speaking at a news conference in Gaza, Hamas spokesman Sami abu-Zuhri said that the lack of response undermined Palestinian demands and that “Israeli stubbornness led to not extending the ceasefire.”
He accused the Israeli occupation of stalling and wasting time, adding that it must accept all of the Palestinian demands.
Abu-Zuhri said that Israel rejected the establishment of an airport or a seaport and refuses to expand the fishing zone. “The Israeli occupation refuses to end the eight-year old blockade imposed on Gaza,” he said.
The Israeli occupation has killed so far 1,903 Palestinians, most of them were civilians, including 400 children. It also wounded around 10,000 Palestinians, most of them are also civilians, according to UN statistics.
