UN warns that Gaza has no specific safe place to push the people to go to amid increased displacement wave from Rafah.
Philippe Lazzarini of the UN agency wrote on X that the claim that people in Gaza can move to ‘safe’ or ‘humanitarian’ zones is false. Each time, it puts the lives of civilians at serious risk, affirming that Gaza does not have any safe zones and there is no place is safe.
The UN said 800,000 Palestinians have fled the southern Gaza city of Rafah while Israeli planes and tanks pounded several areas across the GaA enclave on Sunday.
Lazzarini said on Saturday that Palestinians were fleeing to areas without water supplies or adequate sanitation in time momentum of displacement has raised since ‘Israel’ launched its military operation in Rafah on May 6th, 2024.
Rafah was a home to 1.5 m Palestinians who sought it after Israeli forces invade northern cities of the Gaza enclave and now are forced once again to relocate.
Since October 7, Israeli forces have killed at least 35,456 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since, the Palestinian health ministry said on Sunday, and wounded at least 79,476 others.
