DaysofPal – Israeli occupation forces continued violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement for the 234th consecutive day on Sunday, carrying out artillery shelling, gunfire attacks, and demolition operations across various parts of the enclave.
From northern Gaza to its southernmost areas, the destruction of residential neighborhoods and civilian shelters has continued, while the humanitarian situation grows increasingly severe. Thousands of victims remain trapped beneath rubble, and the flow of humanitarian aid remains insufficient to meet the needs of the population.
On Sunday, Saeed Fayez Shamali succumbed to injuries sustained in an earlier Israeli strike near Firas Market in central Gaza City.
Local sources reported that Israeli occupation forces demolished residential buildings in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City. Israeli naval vessels also opened fire off the city’s coastline.
In southern Gaza, Israeli gunboats fired live ammunition and illumination flares into the waters off Khan Younis, while military vehicles stationed in the north targeted eastern areas of Beit Lahia with gunfire.
Israeli shelling also struck the western section of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
In Deir al-Balah, Israeli forces continued military operations that local authorities say breach the ceasefire agreement. The latest incident involved a drone strike targeting a school operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East in Nuseirat refugee camp during the early hours of Sunday. No injuries were reported. The strike coincided with artillery shelling from the northern side of the camp.
Shelling also targeted eastern areas of the Bureij and Maghazi refugee camps as well as Deir al-Balah. Demolition operations were reported behind the “Yellow Line,” including areas that Israel has previously designated as “safe green zones.”
According to local sources, the pace of demolitions has accelerated across the Gaza Strip, stretching from Beit Hanoun in the north to Rafah in the far south. Artillery units, military vehicles, and drones continue to target these areas, including shelters for displaced civilians and residential homes. Bulldozers have also been deployed along several fronts as part of the expansion of areas surrounding the so-called Yellow Line.
Thousands Remain Under Rubble
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, said thousands of bodies remain trapped beneath collapsed buildings and have yet to be recovered. He also noted that thousands of wounded individuals require urgent medical treatment outside the Gaza Strip.
Basal warned that Gaza is facing an acute crisis in water supplies, food availability, and other essential daily necessities. He added that many residents have been deprived of access to education for nearly three years as a result of the ongoing genocide and its consequences.
According to the latest figures released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the death toll recorded since the ceasefire took effect on October 10 has risen to 929 people, with 2,811 others injured. Authorities have also recovered 781 bodies from various locations across the Gaza Strip during the same period.
The ministry’s cumulative statistics since the start of the Israeli genocidal campaign on October 7, 2023, place the overall death toll at 72,938, while the number of injured has reached 172,919. The increase in the cumulative death toll includes the addition of 112 fatalities whose identities and records were recently verified and approved by the official committee responsible for documenting those killed since the beginning of May.
