DaysofPal – The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday that 29 Palestinians have been killed in ongoing Israeli attacks during the Eid al-Adha holiday, including a large number of women and children, as violations of the ceasefire agreement signed in October 2025 continue.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, said in a press statement that Palestinians are experiencing “new chapters of pain and loss” during days that would normally be marked by celebration and family gatherings. He noted that conditions on the ground reflect the scale of the humanitarian suffering faced by civilians across the enclave.
Basal said Civil Defense teams have continued carrying out their duties despite severe shortages of equipment, resources, and operational capabilities. On Saturday alone, rescue crews responded to nine separate incidents, recovering victims from beneath rubble, evacuating injured individuals, and assisting residents in leaving dangerous areas.
He added that emergency personnel are making extraordinary efforts under extremely difficult conditions, while the gap between growing humanitarian needs and the available resources continues to widen.
Basal stressed that the continued killing of civilians, particularly women and children, places an urgent moral and humanitarian responsibility on the international community. He renewed calls on the United Nations, mediators, and other concerned parties to take immediate action to protect civilians and halt attacks against them.
He also urged the provision of essential supplies and operational support for humanitarian and service agencies, enabling them to continue life-saving work, protect property, and alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s population.
In a related development, local sources reported that new Israeli ceasefire violations on Saturday resulted in the killing of two Palestinians and the injury of several others.
Israel has continued military operations in Gaza despite the ceasefire and war-ending agreement brokered by Arab mediators and the United States in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh on October 10, 2025, following a genocide that lasted two years.
According to the latest figures released by Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire took effect on October 11 has risen to 929, while 2,811 others have been injured.
The ministry’s cumulative statistics since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023, place the overall death toll at 72,819 Palestinians, with the number of injured reaching 172,894.
