The municipality of the Belgian city of Liège decided Tuesday, April 25, 2023, to freeze its relations with the Israeli occupation, and all its public and private institutions, due to its flagrant violation of the rights of the Palestinian people.
According to the Israeli “Kan” channel, the mayor of Barcelona “Ada Colao”, confirmed that “popular groups in Catalonia decided to freeze relations with Israel after canceling the twinning agreement with the municipality of “Tel Aviv.”
The decision, which won the majority of the members of the municipal council and was submitted by the Belgian Labor, social, Green Party groups and the representative of the Vega Movement. All groups affirmed support for the Palestinian people who have been suffering for so long from the Israeli apartheid.
The resolution also demanded “Israel” stop all its illegal settlement activities, including in the occupied city of Jerusalem, and its rejection of all attempts to change the reality before the occupation.
About 700,000 Israeli settlers live currently in more than 200 settlements built on Palestinian land considered illegal under International law.
Palestinian figures showed that Israeli forces and settlers carried out about 700 attacks against Palestinian families and their properties in the occupied West Bank.
The attacks included assaulting Palestinians, uprooting trees, razing lands, seizing properties, burning and vandalizing vehicles, and closing roads.
