DaysofPal – The international medical humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has issued a stark warning over the rapidly worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, citing the ongoing Israeli blockade and continued Israeli attacks as key drivers of the crisis.
In a statement, MSF said there is clear evidence of a “systematic and deliberate” targeting of water sources in Gaza by Israeli occupation, which has significantly deepened the territory’s water crisis.
The destruction of vital water infrastructure has led to a severe shortage of safe water, contributing to the spread of diseases and epidemics among the population.
The organization added that continuous Israeli bombardment of essential infrastructure, particularly water facilities, has left residents struggling to access basic necessities.
This comes as the Israeli blockade continues to restrict the entry of critical humanitarian aid into the enclave.
Field reports have also indicated the re-emergence of famine-like conditions, as increasing restrictions on food supplies threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians.
Aid agencies warn that food insecurity is reaching alarming levels across the territory.
Hospitals, already overwhelmed by the ongoing crisis, are now at risk of shutting down entirely due to severe shortages of fuel and lubricants needed to power electricity generators.
The prevention of fuel entry, MSF noted, could lead to the total collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system.
The impact of the blockade has extended beyond the health sector, severely affecting transportation as well.
Vehicles across the strip are facing near-total paralysis due to the same shortages in fuel and operational supplies.
Meanwhile, Israeli military operations have reportedly continued despite a declared ceasefire. According to local sources, more than 900 people have been killed in separate attacks since the truce began.
Humanitarian organizations warn that without urgent international intervention to halt the Israeli targeting of civilian infrastructure and allow the unrestricted flow of aid, the situation could spiral into an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
