DaysofPal- The Palestinian Civil Defense Agency in the Gaza Strip announced on Tuesday that most of its emergency vehicles in the Gaza province have stopped functioning due to a lack of fuel.
“We declare the cessation of operations for most civil defense vehicles in Gaza governorate due to insufficient fuel. Currently, we are operating with only one water tanker and one rescue vehicle,” the agency said in a statement on Tuesday.
Since mid-November, emergency teams have been unable to respond to many distress calls or reach the locations of Israeli attacks.
“Such a situation portends that we are facing disasters and painful humanitarian scenes that will increase the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression,” the civil defense explained.
With thousands of displaced people still fleeing northern Gaza, the civil defense has warned that the ongoing fuel shortage will exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza province and raise the need for humanitarian aid throughout the region.
“The Israeli occupation’s refusal to allow in fuel and rescue equipment needed by the civil defense reflects insistence on committing more crimes against our defenseless Palestinian people and a premeditated intent to violate the international humanitarian law,” the civil defense said.
The Israeli army has killed about 85 civil defense personnel, injured 301 others, and detained 20 more in the ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, which have also destroyed numerous centers and vehicles and killed dozens of civil defense personnel.
