DaysofPal – The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to escalate as the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that the death toll from malnutrition and famine among starving civilians has reached 370, including 131 children.
The ongoing Israeli genocide and the prevention of humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip are cited as major contributing factors.
In the past 24 hours alone, three more deaths due to hunger and malnutrition were recorded. The Ministry highlighted that since the Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) declaration, 92 deaths, including 16 children, have been documented.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported earlier today that many families in Gaza are without basic life necessities.
The agency noted that it has been six months since any aid was allowed into the Strip, emphasizing the urgent need for shelter supplies, including tents, and reiterated its preparedness to provide assistance.
However, it stressed that lifting the blockade is crucial to ensure aid reaches those in need.
Since March 2, the Israeli occupation has maintained the closure of all Gaza crossings, effectively blocking humanitarian assistance and plunging the area into famine, despite relief trucks waiting at the border.
Approximately a month ago, Israel allowed the entry of only minimal aid, insufficient to meet the needs of the starving population.
Reports indicate that most aid trucks have been looted by gangs allegedly operating under Israeli protection.
With support from the United States, the Israeli occupation forces have been conducting a campaign described by some as genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
This ongoing assault has resulted in 63,746 Palestinian deaths, 161,245 injuries, mostly affecting women and children, over 9,000 missing persons, and hundreds of thousands displaced.
The grim situation in Gaza has prompted urgent calls from international humanitarian organizations and rights groups for immediate intervention to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population.
