Mercy-USA for Aid and Development, a humanitarian organization based in Michigan, has announced a multi-year agreement with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to provide critical support to thousands of Palestine Refugees living in the Gaza Strip.
The agreement will fund the UNRWA Health Programme in Gaza, which offers life-saving medicines, mammogram screenings, and assistive devices to refugees who face deteriorating conditions due to the ongoing blockade. The agreement will also support the Rehabilitation Centre for the Visually Impaired (RCVI), which provides education and training to blind and low-vision students.
According to Mercy-USA, the partnership aims to alleviate human suffering and support individuals and their communities in their efforts to become self-sufficient. Mercy-USA has been working with UNRWA since 2016 and has contributed over $1.5 million to various projects in Gaza.
UNRWA is a UN agency that provides assistance and protection to some 5.7 million Palestine Refugees across the Middle East. UNRWA relies on voluntary contributions from donors to carry out its mandate. Mercy-USA is one of the many partners that support UNRWA’s work.
