DaysofPal- London Mayor Sadiq Khan has described Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip as “genocide,” accusing it of deliberately creating famine in the besieged enclave amid the collapse of the health sector.
In remarks published in The Guardian, Khan stressed that what is unfolding in Gaza amounts to mass extermination, highlighting that the humanitarian crisis is worsening by the day.
The mayor also aimed at former U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of fueling the rise of far-right extremism worldwide.
He pointed to Trump’s use of the military in U.S. cities and his targeting of minorities, which he said reflected behavior “straight out of the tyrant’s playbook.”
Khan’s statements coincided with Trump’s arrival in London late Tuesday for a high-profile visit, underscoring the historic ties between the U.S. and the U.K.
The visit has triggered a wave of political and public criticism across Britain.
Referring to recent far-right rallies in the capital, Khan noted that while London has seen such demonstrations before, “something changed last weekend,” as over 100,000 people filled the city’s streets, with tens of thousands marching peacefully in defiance of extremist rhetoric.
This marks the second official visit by Trump to the United Kingdom.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli genocidal war in Gaza has left at least 65,062 Palestinians killed and 165,697 wounded, the majority of them women and children. Meanwhile, famine has claimed the lives of 432 Palestinians, including 146 children, according to local health authorities.
