DayofPal– The Israeli occupation forces have turned Jabalia camp into a landscape of destruction during 20 days of implementing the general’s plan, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Local Governance, on Thursday.
Zuhdi Al-Ghreez, an advisor to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Governance in Gaza, told Al-Risala that about 80% of the areas, villages, and towns in the northern governorates of the Gaza Strip have been destroyed with almost all buildings of Jabalia camp have been levelled to the ground.
The area classified by the Israeli army as northern Gaza, from the northern Gaza Valley to Beit Hanoun, represents 60% of the Gaza Strip’s total area, with 90% of it having been subjected to near-total destruction, according to Al-Ghreez.
The United Nations agencies have long warned that it could take decades to rebuild Gaza after Israel’s offensive against Gaza population. A new report by has revealed that it could take 350 years for Gaza to rebuild if it remains under a blockade.
Al-Ghreez noted that what the Israeli army is practicing is a systematic destruction of urban clusters in the northern region, as part of a plan aimed at displacing residents and erasing the features of the Palestinian cities and governorates there.
“We cannot quantify the losses to infrastructure, civilian life, or population because each time they destroy what has not been destroyed before,” he revealed.
The Israeli settler leader Daniella Weiss stated Monday at a gathering of hundreds of right-wing Israelis near Gaza that the Israeli army’s destruction of northern Gaza is being facilitated in a bid for the re-settlement project in the area, adding that “We came here with one clear purpose: to settle the entire Gaza Strip.”
