The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Monday, March 20, its strong condemnation and rejection of the extremist Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s use of a map of “Israel” that includes the borders of Jordan and occupied Palestine.
The extremist Smotrich, during his participation in an event held yesterday in Paris, showed a map of the Israeli occupation country that includes the borders of Jordan and occupied Palestine, violating international norms and the Jordanian-Israeli peace treaty.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Sinan Al-Majali, said that the ministry also condemns the extremist racist and inciting statements made by the extremist Israeli minister towards the Palestinian people, and warned of the seriousness of these extremist racist behaviors.
As well, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, confirmed that “Smotrich’s statements about Jordan reveal the political ideology of the Israeli occupation, and prove that the (Israeli) danger to Jordan is the same as the danger to Palestine.”
The ministry called on the international community to condemn the Israeli extremist and inflammatory actions and statements, which are a clear violation of human values and principles.
It also affirmed that it will take all necessary political and legal measures to confront such extremist behaviors and statements, which represent a dangerous escalation, threaten security and stability, and pushes for an escalation.
