Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned Monday, 26 September 2022 the constant Israeli settlers storming of al-Aqsa mosque in occupied Jerusalem and performing provocative rituals under the Israeli occupation forces’ protection.
The Ministry’s spokesperson Haitham Abu Alfoul stated“the escalation of violations including the provocative practices in al-Aqsa mosque and the surrounding Islamic cemeteries which are considered an Islamic endowment, as well as the imposition of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, is a violation of the historical and legal status quo and the international law.
He added that the continuous violations against the Al-Aqsa mosque and holy sites in the occuiped Jerusalem represent a dangerous turn that threatens to further escalations and consequences.
He stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque with its entire area of 144 dunums, is purely a place of worship for Muslims and that the Jordanian-run Waqf (endowments) and al-Aqsa Affairs Administration in Jerusalem has the exclusive jurisdiction to run all the affairs of the holy site
The spokesperson called on Israel, the occupying power, to immediately stop practices and violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, respect its sanctity, halt measures aimed at altering the historical and legal status quo, and respect the Waqf and al-Aqsa Affairs Administration in Jerusalem.
Some 405 colonial settlers invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound through its Maghariba Gate in the morning, ahead of the provocative so-called “Hebrew new year celebrations”
Palestinian journalists and press crews were prevented from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevented from covering the Israeli settlers’ breakings.
10 Palestinians were arrested by Israeli troops while standing up to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
5 Palestinians were injured as a result of the IOF attacks against residents at Bab Al-Asbat, according to the Red Crescent crews.
