An elderly Palestinian woman was killed early Tuesday after being brutally assaulted by Israeli occupation soldiers during a raid in the town of Jayyous, northeast of Qalqilya in the occupied West Bank.
Local sources reported that the victim, Sabriya Shamasneh, died after Israeli forces stormed her home and severely beat her during the incursion. She was later transferred to a hospital with serious bruising and injuries, where she was pronounced dead.
The killing came as Israeli forces carried out a wider raid across the town, breaking into homes and detaining a young man identified as Osama al-Qaddoumi. Residents described the raid as violent and invasive, with soldiers searching houses and damaging property.
Such operations have become a daily reality across the West Bank, where Israeli forces routinely conduct raids, arrest campaigns, and home searches that often involve physical assaults and intimidation of civilians.
Palestinians say these incursions have intensified in recent months, creating a climate of constant fear and instability, particularly in smaller towns and rural communities like Jayyous.
Human rights observers warn that the repeated use of force against civilians, including the elderly, reflects a broader pattern of escalating violations, carried out with little accountability and under the cover of ongoing military operations.
