DaysofPal- Dozens of Israeli settlers stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Wednesday morning through the Moroccan Gate, Bab al-Maghariba, under heavy protection from Israeli occupation police.
According to the Islamic Waqf Department in occupied Jerusalem, groups of settlers roamed the courtyards of the mosque. They performed Talmudic rituals in the eastern area, in clear violation of the sanctity of the holy site.
Israeli forces imposed strict restrictions on Palestinian worshipers entering the compound, checking IDs and confiscating them at the external gates, while limiting access to Muslim worshipers, especially young men and women.
During the recent Jewish holidays, around 9,820 settlers stormed the al-Aqsa compound under heavy police escort, marking a significant escalation in settler incursions.
Meanwhile, Jerusalemite and Palestinian activists have renewed widespread calls for mass mobilization toward al-Aqsa Mosque and for maintaining a constant presence within its courtyards to counter Israeli attempts to impose new control measures and to thwart settler provocations at the site.
The al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third-holiest site, has long been a flashpoint for tensions, as far-right settler groups, often backed by Israeli forces, continue to carry out incursions that Palestinians view as part of efforts to alter the status quo at the compound.
