Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Sunday evening, March 26, 2023 that he fired the Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
This came in a statement issued by Netanyahu’s office after Yoav Gallant calls for halt to judicial overhaul and which were answered by massive demonstrations in the Israeli community.
In order to proceed with the judicial amendments, Gallant urged Netanyahu’s coalition government to wait until after the Jewish Passover holiday, which starts on April 5 and hold talks with the opposition.
Since the government’s proposed judicial reforms were unveiled in January, Israel has experienced widespread demonstrations. Weekly street protests between thousands of Israelis and Israeli forces have taken place.
