Israeli occupation forces suppressed Palestinian celebrations in Jerusalem, winning Morocco’s World Cup quarter-final, and assaulted them by beating and pursuing them.
Hundreds of Palestinian youths gathered in Bab al-Amud Square, one of the doors of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and other areas and streets on Saturday in Jerusalem, and raised Palestinian and Moroccan flags and chanted in celebration of Morocco’s victory, but the occupying forces abhorred them, assaulted many of them by beating, denouncing and firing a barrage of tear gas canisters, wounding some of them.
Despite the repression of the occupation, hundreds of Palestinians continued to express their joy at Morocco’s qualification, gathering again in Bab al-Amud Square. They raised Palestinian and Moroccan flags on cars, houses, and motorcycles in Jerusalem.
The Moroccan national team achieved historic qualification for the semi-finals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, after defeating the Portuguese team by a one-nil. In the match on Saturday evening to count the quarter-finals of the competition.
