Prisoners’ advocacy groups said on Tuesday 12 April 2022 that during the month of March, the Israeli occupation kidnapped 539 Palestinians, including 62 minors and 19 women.
In a joint report, the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission, the Palestinian Prisoner Society, Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, and Wadi Hilweh Information Center, said that most of the detentions in March took place in Jerusalem where 163 Palestinians were rounded up, including 43 minors.
They added that 4450 Palestinians are incarcerated in Israeli jails by the end of March, including 160 minors, 32 women, and 530 administrative detainees.
Moreover, the groups said that the Israeli occupation issued 195 administrative detention orders in March, of which 107 were new orders and 88 renewed ones.
The report pointed out that during the month of March, there was a significant increase in the number of sick prisoners.
Also, the groups stated that the prisoners are subjected to the policy of medical neglect (slow killing) through a number of systematic ways, the most prominent of which is the delay in diagnosing and providing the necessary treatment.
Israel’s policy of administrative detention allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
It is noteworthy that, since the beginning of this year, the occupation has issued nearly 400 administrative detention orders.
