Israeli occupation forces have detained several Palestinians in overnight raids across the occupied West Bank, sparking clashes with local residents.
Among those arrested was Omar Abu Alia, a former Palestinian prisoner, who was taken from his home in the village of Al-Mughayir, northeast of Ramallah, after Israeli occupation forces searched and ransacked his house.
Israeli occupation forces also raided the villages of Battir, west of Bethlehem, and Awriya, south of Nablus, where they searched homes and vehicles.
In Jerusalem, Israeli occupation forces clashed with Palestinian youths in the Al-Thawri neighborhood of Silwan and the Shuafat refugee camp. The Israeli occupation forces fired tear gas and rubber bullets at the protesters, who threw stones and Molotov cocktails.
Similar confrontations occurred in the Al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron, where Israeli occupation forces used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.
In Bethlehem, Palestinian youths set fire to an Israeli military post at the northern entrance of Tuqu’ town, while in Jenin, Israeli occupation forces arrested Murad Malalha from Silat al-Dhahr at a checkpoint near Tulkarm. Another Palestinian, Ibrahim Khaled Saadia, was detained from Jenin refugee camp.
In Nablus, Palestinian youths burned an Israeli army post in the town of Huwara, south of the city.
The Israeli raids and arrests come amid heightened tensions in the occupied territories over Israel’s settlement expansion and its crackdown on Palestinian resistance.
