Israeli occupation government prevented a member of the European Parliament from entering Palestine and deported her to Spain on Monday, February 20, 2023.
Ana Miranda, a Spanish MEP in the Greens group, arrived on Monday at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv along with an 8-member delegation from European Parliament.
After three hours of waiting, Miranda was put on a flight to Madrid as the Israeli government banned her from entering Palestine.
“Deported by Israel! After many hours of waiting since 9 pm, Israel does not allow me to enter as a member of the
EU Delegation. It’s almost 5 in the morning and I’m kicked out on the first flight to Madrid,” Ana tweeted.
Roberta Metsola, Parliament President, expressed her “deep disappointment” at Israel’s decision to deny Ana’s entry to Palestine.
On Twitter, Metsola said she will contact the Israeli authorities to demand answers and convene the political group leaders to discuss the next steps.
This came several days after Israeli occupation authorities banned the entry of the Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with Palestine (DPAL), Manu Pineda, from entering the Gaza Strip.
