Israel Bans MEP from Entering Gaza Strip

B.M | DOP -

Israeli occupation authorities banned the entry of the Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with Palestine (DPAL), Manu Pineda, from entering Palestine, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

The Left in the European Parliament reported that Israel vetoes Pineda’s visit to Palestine scheduled to be next week.

Left Member of European Parliament (MEP) Pineda, was scheduled to go on a mission next week with eight other MEPs from four different parliamentary groups, the website pointed out.

It added that this is the second time Israel bans Pineda from entering Palestine, preventing him from doing his work as the Parliament’s top representative on Palestinian affairs.

On Twitter, Pineda said that he host a press conference on this issue Wednesday morning, denouncing the Israeli decision.

“It is unusual, to say the least, that a country that participates in numerous EU programs and is considered a key partner should prevent our Delegation from carrying out its work normally,” Pineda says.

“We believe that the presence of our Delegation in Palestine, at a time like this, with the most extremist Israeli government in recent years, is indispensable,” he added. He also asked the delegation to go ahead with the visit.
