DaysofPal – Israeli forces arrested four Palestinian fishermen off the coast of Gaza on Thursday, continuing a pattern of violations against the ongoing ceasefire.
Zakaria Bakr, a spokesperson for Gaza’s Fishermen Committees, said that Israeli naval boats intercepted the fishermen while they were working at sea and detained four individuals: Hamza Abdulwahab Ktoah, Abdel Latif Zaki Taroush, Rushdi Abdullah Al-Attar, and Arafat Malik Taroush.
According to Bakr, the fishermen were able to recover one of their boats, while Israeli forces prevented the return of another.
The Israeli navy has repeatedly targeted and detained Gaza’s fishermen in similar incidents, despite the ceasefire that came into effect on October 10, 2025. Since the agreement, more than 20 fishermen have been arrested, and Israeli forces have committed 12 new violations of the truce in the past 55 days.
The attacks continued overnight when five Palestinians, including two children, were killed by Israeli drone strikes on tents housing displaced families in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza.
Civil defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said the victims “were not in a combat zone but inside a shelter camp, where displaced people had been instructed to take refuge as a safe area under prior guidance.”
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that, since the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the total number of fatalities has risen to 360, with 922 wounded and 617 bodies recovered.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip has killed 70,117 Palestinians and injured 170,999 others.
