The Israeli Knesset approved Monday, January 30, 2023 the amendments to the bill to withdraw Jerusalem and occupied territories Palestinian prisoners’ citizenship and residency.
The Knesset said in a statement published on its website, “The bill stipulates that when a person is convicted of committing a terrorist act and sentenced to imprisonment, he is considered to have renounced his citizenship or his permanent residence permit.
The Knesset added that such person will be transferred at the end of his imprisonment to the territory of the Palestinian Authority, in accordance with Article 13 of the Entry into Israel Law.
The bill directly targets the Palestinian released prisoners, Karim and Maher Younes, as they were released after 40 years of detention, while the Israeli occupation began to harass them and confiscated their money and vehicles, amid threats directed against them.
