DayofPal– Israeli forces have intensified their ground invasion into Syrian territories with tanks now advancing into the southwestern countryside of Daraa.
The Israeli military assault, stretching over several days, takes advantage of the fragile moment of transition following the uprising against Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
Syrian sources confirmed that early this morning, Israeli military vehicles entered the village of Saida Al-Golan in western Daraa, advancing through its streets before setting up in the village’s central square.
Notably, Saida Al-Golan lies more than two kilometers beyond the established “disengagement line.” Meanwhile, in the Quneitra region, Israeli forces have pushed their incursions more than four kilometers into Syrian territory.
Reports also reveal an Israeli incursion into the Yarmouk Basin in western Daraa, a region critical to both Syria and Jordan’s water security. This latest move threatens the basin, one of the key water sources in the area.
Since the fall of the Syrian regime, Israeli airstrikes have relentlessly targeted numerous sites across Syria. These attacks have struck Syrian military positions, equipment, and weapon caches, including strategic targets such as the Latakia port and several government buildings.
Just two days ago, Israeli warplanes carried out a series of heavy airstrikes across Daraa province, hitting several key military locations. The raids targeted weapons depots near the town of Mahja, as well as Brigade 112 between Sheikh Maskin and Nawa, Battalion 175, and abandoned military sites.
Strikes also struck strategic areas around Tel Al-Jabiya, Tel Al-Mahes, Tel Al-Hamad, and the Ninth Division, with additional assaults on military positions within and around the city of Daraa itself.
The airstrikes extended to military points in Suwayda, Damascus countryside, areas near Damascus, Masyaf, and the Syrian coast.
The Syrian Interim Government strongly condemned Israel’s incursion into Syrian territory. In response, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Qusai Al-Dhahhak, sent official letters to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, demanding that Israel adhere to the disengagement agreement and respect the mandate of the UNDOF peacekeeping forces.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, the General Commander of Syrian Military Operations, accused Israel of breaching the disengagement lines and warned that such actions could lead to an unnecessary escalation in the region.
