Around 200,000 Palestinian citizens residing in Bedouin communities in the West Bank face the looming threat of forced displacement at the hands of Israeli occupation forces, all in the name of establishing settlement projects.
Mahmoud Al-Saify, the Director of Land Research Office in Nablus, issued a warning during an interview with the “SAND News Agency” on Sunday, highlighting the imminent danger of displacing Palestinians in Bedouin communities, some of which
were established 80 years ago.
Al-Saify explained that the displacement of these communities paves the way for settlement projects, with the most recent targeting 12,000 dunams (approximately 3,000 acres) of land to connect the “Ma’ale Adumim” settlement to Jerusalem.
He emphasized the troubling harmony between settler attacks on Bedouin communities and the security cover provided to them by the Israeli occupation.
Al-Saify pointed out that the deliberate targeting of Bedouin communities, especially in the eastern slopes of the West Bank, reveals a clear agenda and the occupation’s endeavor to erase their existence.
The Israeli occupation and settlers have committed more than 600 violations against Palestinian Bedouin communities in the West Bank since the beginning of the current year, as reported by the Bedrock organization, which advocates for the rights of Bedouin people.
The organization had previously issued an urgent appeal, calling for the protection of Bedouin communities from the threat of uprooting and ensuring their safety, given the occupation’s practices aimed at depopulating the region, asserting control over land and natural resources.
