In the early hours of Monday, June 26, 2023, Israeli occupation forces handed a demolition notice to the family of Palestinian prisoner Maher Shaloun in the Aqaba Jaber camp in West Bank.
The Israeli forces stated that the notice would take effect after June 28th, and it could be executed at any moment thereafter.
Several military vehicles belonging to Israeli occupation raided the Aqaba Jaber camp this morning, surrounding the house of Palestinian prisoner Maher Shaloun before delivering the demolition notice.
The pretext for the demolition is Shaloun’s alleged involvement in a shooting incident that resulted in the death of an Israeli settler.
Back in March, Israeli forces took measurements of Maher Shaloun’s house in the Aqaba Jaber camp as a prelude to its demolition.
Shaloun is a former prisoner who has spent three years in Israeli jails.
He is married and a father of three children, and he is the brother of the martyr Jamal Shaloun.
The family’s house has previously been demolished, and most of his siblings have endured years of imprisonment in Israeli prisons.
Collective punishment such as punitive home demolitions is among the policies that Israeli occupation has relied on to systematically oppress innocent Palestinians.
