DaysofPal – Israeli forces continued to violate the ceasefire for the 119th consecutive day on Saturday, opening fire on multiple areas across the Gaza Strip and carrying out widespread destruction of residential buildings in eastern Gaza City and Khan Younis.
Local sources reported that Israeli artillery shelled eastern Khan Younis while military forces carried out the demolition of entire residential blocks in the area. Israeli attack helicopters also fired heavy machine-gun rounds toward several neighborhoods of the city, particularly in its southern districts. At sea, Israeli naval vessels opened fire toward the coast of Khan Younis.
In Gaza City, Israeli artillery launched intense shelling against the city’s eastern areas. Israeli drones dropped explosives on Palestinian homes in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of the city. Earlier, Israeli forces destroyed a multi-story residential building in the al-Aqouba area near Palestine Square using missiles, following a warning that forced residents to evacuate.
As part of the ongoing ceasefire violations, Israeli warplanes completely destroyed a multi-story residential building near the Asqoula roundabout in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City. The strike came after residents were given only minutes to evacuate before the building was hit by an air-launched missile.
Israeli helicopter fire was also reported over Rafah in southern Gaza, while military vehicles targeted eastern areas of Deir al-Balah in the central Strip.
Two Palestinians were killed on Friday following Israeli shelling and gunfire in northern Gaza. The total number of Palestinians killed since the start of the Israeli assault on Gaza on 7 October 2023 has reached 71,851, with 171,626 others wounded.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated on Friday that 601 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire took effect in October, with 1,518 people injured during the same period.
The ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel entered into force on 10 October, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas of the Gaza Strip and the beginning of displaced residents’ return to northern Gaza. The agreement formed part of the first phase of a US-backed initiative announced by President Donald Trump to end the war on Gaza.
