DaysofPal – Israeli forces shot and killed two Palestinians on Wednesday in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, in yet another escalation of violations against the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
Local sources confirmed the killing of Abed al-Ammarin, 35, who was shot near the car market area in Zeitoun. Earlier in the morning, another Palestinian was killed, and several others were wounded in the same district as Israeli troops opened fire on residential areas.
These incidents mark the 54th consecutive day of Israeli breaches of the ceasefire, with continued air raids, artillery bombardment, and the demolition of civilian structures across the Gaza Strip.
At dawn, Israeli warplanes launched a wave of intense airstrikes inside the so-called “yellow zone” east of Khan Younis, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and triggering powerful explosions that shook the area.
Simultaneously, Israeli tanks opened sustained fire while artillery shells rained down on eastern Khan Younis, causing widespread destruction and panic among residents.
Witnesses also reported the detonation of residential buildings in the Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City, as Israeli engineering units carried out demolitions alongside continuous airstrikes on the eastern districts of Khan Younis.
Mahmoud al-Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, wrote on Facebook that “the war is still ongoing, and the killing has not stopped.” He noted that Israeli artillery has been targeting the Tuffah area, particularly around al-Sanafur, directly and repeatedly for two days, despite the area lying far from the yellow-zone boundary.
In a related development, the al-Quds Brigades announced that its fighters coordinated with the International Committee of the Red Cross to search for the body of an Israeli captive in northern Gaza.
Israel continues to demand the return of the two captives’ bodies before agreeing to begin the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
Despite the declared truce on 10 October, Israeli attacks have killed 361 Palestinians, most of them children, women, and the elderly. Another 903 people have been wounded with varying degrees of injury during the same period, as ceasefire violations persist across the besieged territory.
