Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) invaded several Palestinian towns in Jerusalem on Sunday, July 23, 2023, and issued demolition orders for structures in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to local sources, the Israeli forces ordered the demolition of Ya’qub Al-Rajabi’s home in the Batn Al-Hawa neighborhood of Silwan, alleging that it was built without the necessary permits.
The sources added that the occupation forces also delivered demolition orders for several commercial shops in the Ain Al-Louza neighborhood belonging to the Al-Abbasi family, as well as demolition notices for Palestinian homes in Al-‘Issawiya town, northeast of Jerusalem.
The Israeli soldiers were seen photographing various Palestinian buildings in the Ain Al-Louza neighborhood as a prelude to issuing demolition orders.
It was further noted that a large number of Israeli forces stormed Al-‘Issawiya town and the Al-Bireh suburb, north of the city, to install a metal wall above a section of the apartheid wall in the northeastern area of Jerusalem.
In a related context, a massive Israeli military force raided the Shuafat refugee camp and conducted house-to-house searches under the pretext of searching for weapons. They also confiscated stalls belonging to street vendors near the “Shuafat” military checkpoint.
Israeli forces have been using the pretext of building without permits to demolish Palestinian homes, while at the same time, they consistently deny Palestinian families the permits required for legal construction.
This discriminatory practice has led to a significant number of demolitions in Palestinian towns and villages, leaving families displaced and homes destroyed, further exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation in the occupied territories.
According to United Nations data, from the start of 2023 until July 4th, 525 attacks by settlers have been documented, resulting in 137 injuries among Palestinians and 388 attacks causing damage to Palestinian properties.
