Israeli occupation forces IOF invaded the vicinity of Hebron University Tuesday, May 16, 2023, and fired tear gas, suffocating several Palestinian citizens, including students.
According to local Palestinian sources, Israeli forces were stationed at the main gates of Hebron University and fired sound bombs and toxic gas towards Palestinians. Consequently, several Palestinians, including students, suffocated from gas inhalation and required immediate on-site medical treatment.
Witnesses reported chaotic scenes as Palestinian citizens, including students, struggled to breathe and sought refuge from the gas. Medical teams rushed to the scene to provide assistance, administering first aid and treatment to those affected.
The use of tear gas and other riot control measures by Israeli forces has been a common occurrence in Israel’s history.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly criticized the excessive use of force and the deployment of tear gas in densely populated areas, particularly in close proximity to educational institutions.
