Israeli occupation forces IOF detained 510 Palestinians, including 44 kids and seven women, in August 2023, according to the Palestinian Center for Prisoners Studies (PCPS).
PCPS said the Israeli occupation has escalated detentions against Palestinian citizens following resistance acts, which were carried out in retaliation to the Israeli crimes and settler’s attacks against the Palestinian people.
Detaining Palestinians across occupied Palestine, Israeli forces raided hundreds of houses, arbitrarily searched them, sabotaged their contents, and assaulted their residents.
It’s noteworthy that there are nearly 5100 Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons, including 165 children, 33 women, and 1300 administrative detainees.
The highest rate is in Jerusalem
The occupied Jerusalem saw the highest rate of detention, amounting to more than 33% of the total detentions, as Israeli forces detained 145 defenceless Palestinians, including five women and 23 children.
Among detained children, Israeli forces detained 14-year-old Palestinian boy Abd Al-Rahman Al-Zaghal after critically wounding him.
The PCPS director Riyad Al-Ashqar said the Israeli occupation escalated its attacks against the Jeruslaemites by all means, especially the detention.
In addition, the Israeli occupation courts issued hundreds of deportation, house arrest, and administrative detention orders against Jerusalemites.
According to the centre, Israeli occupation courts issued 24 deportation orders, which prevent Palestinians from visiting Al-Aqsa Mosque or occupied Jerusalem.
They also issued 21 house arrest orders against Palestinian children and women and 6 administrative detention orders against others.
Following Jerusalem, Hebron witnessed massive detention campaigns that affected more than 112 Palestinian citizens, including 25 children and three females.

Besieged Gaza detentions
The Palestine Center pointed out that the Israeli occupation has also escalated detention against Palestinian citizens in the besieged Gaza Strip, as Israeli armed units kidnapped 19 Palestinians last August.
Israeli forces detained 11 Palestinian fishermen during Israeli warship attacks offshore Gaza. Their small fishing boats have been also confiscated by Israeli troops.
Other eight Palestinians were detained near the separation fence east of the strip, some of them were farmers working in their agricultural lands there.
It’s noteworthy that the Israeli occupation has been severely besieging the Gaza Strip for over 16 consecutive years by which it controls the lives of over 2.2 million Palestinians and isolates them from the outside world.
Israeli forces detain kids and women
Al-Ashqar stated that the Israeli occupation escalated targeting Palestinian children with detention, house arrests, and high fines in the past August.
He said that Israeli forces detained 42 Palestinian children, two of whom are at the age of 12, namely Anas Wizwiz and Mohammad Al-Shuwaiki, from Jerusalem.
Israeli forces also detained 13-year-old Amin Al-Sajdi at a military checkpoint south of Jericho.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces detained seven women, including two sisters Iman Khamis, 18, and Nisreen Khamis, 20, after they tried to free their brother from Israeli settlers who tried to attack him.
They also detained Palestinian journalist Najwa Adnan in the eastern area of occupied Jerusalem. She was released later.
Administrative detainees
The Israeli occupation has escalated the administrative detention against the Palestinian people, targeting 360 Palestinians from all categories.
Israeli courts have issued 360 administrative detention orders against Palestinians, some of them are renewal orders and the others are orders that have been issued against Palestinians for the first time.
So far in 2023, Israeli courts have issued almost 2300 administrative detention orders against Palestinians, including new and renewal orders.
The Israeli occupation claims that the Palestinian administrative detainees have secret files that cannot be disclosed at all, so the detainees do not know the length of their sentences or the charges against them.
The administrative detainee is often subjugated to the renewal of the detention period more than once, and it may sometimes reach a full year, which is also subjected to renewal.
There are currently 1,300 administrative detainees in Israeli occupation prisons, including 21 minors and three women. They are distributed in three central prisons, namely Negev, Ofer, and Megiddo.
